BLESSED BE THE TIES THAT BIND OUR HEARTS IN ...FAMILY LOVE... We are saddened to hear of our family passing. We had always heard about Cuz Ettie, but never met her until we went to Grandma Nola's birthday celebration in 2019 in Wolverhampton, UK. What a wonderful time we had, meeting finally the family. All of you were all so loving and welcoming to me and Donny. Meeting Cuz Etti was a treat. It was good finally speaking with you all and her. We had heard a lot of good things about her and my mom (Linda Miller) had also confirmed it. We are sad because we had just met and now we have lost her. I praise the Most High for you all, because her memory lives in everyone of you. I will get to know more about her through your stories and laughter and songs you are sure she sung and things she had said and done for you. To her sons, may the peace that passeth all understanding rest forever in your hearts. Keep her memory alive and she will never be forgotten. God bless and keep you and family and all our relatives safe and protected forever in His care. Donny and I love you all. God bless. Hugzxx and Kizzezs.

Our cousins, Orville and Kevon,we say well done to you as we appreciate all that you had done. We know that our aunt Etty is well pleased with you.As we watched the thanks giving service we were brought to tears. The songs that were playing were played at our late dad Edmond Shaw's funeral. We wish for Orville a speedy recovery and God's richest blessing on you all and we salutes the entire family. Keep safe.

Our deepest condolences to her family and our prayers for them will continue.

Aunt Etty was a beloved family friend to us. She had a great spark and a great amount of love and many things to many people. She leaves for us too so many treasured memories and a great loss. She was a pillar figure in my own childhood. As a 6 year old newly returned from Jamaica I spent some several weekends with her and utterly loved her from then on. She had a laughing voice and twinkly eyes...everything a young child would love. Her familiar Jamaicaness didnt hurt its true . She helped my mother settle me into grade 1, she taught my sister Sher and I creative dance, regaled us with hilarious teaching stories in Lac La Biche, gave me my first reggae record (a 45), took me with her on vacation helped me pack for school and spoke for the bride when Dave and I married. I'll never forget how honoured and delighted I was when my father told me she had agreed nor her delightful Ms Lou style performance when she did. Most of all she has been a most loyal and true friend to my mother through the years, not with standing the miles between them. She will miss her calls more than words. These are every day memories and yet so indescribably treasured.

Enjoy the stars in your crown and Rest In Peace Aunt Etty.
Love Dawn

I just wanted to add in that Deacon and Joshua will both miss seeing their grandma every other weekend. While my daughter and I only saw Etty when we picked up the boys, she was always very welcoming, and so kind to my daughter and I, and of course the love of her grandchildren was evident. I'll miss seeing her once in a while as well. Thank you, Miss Etty, for being exactly who God created you to be. Much love.

Rest in peace, Aunt Etty.

She inspired me for as long as I can remember. I believe she pursued the dreams and visions given to her. She was a visionary, a way-maker and a cheerleader to all who were blessed to know her. As a little brown girl, I loved seeing someone who looked like me living life to the fullest and without apology. She showed me love and expected nothing but the best. Now she has crossed the great divide and left a great void behind. Take your rest, my sister in Christ and one glad morning...

To the family, please accept my deepest condolences and know that I pray for you in your time of grief.

In Christ,
Sheryl

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Orville, Kevan and their families and friends.
Etty will be remembered as a Teacher, Colleague, Companion , Cultural Artist, Writer, Choir Mistress and a great friend.
Etty and my family arrived in Alberta in the late sixties, became acquainted shortly after and developed a lasting friendship. Her book "Roll Caii" written a few years ago is a testament to our community and a great contribution to Alberta at large.
She will also be remembered for the annual renditions of her choir "In Harmony" at the November 11th Rememberance Day Ceremonies put on by the Kiwanis Centre downtown for Seniors . Her Memory will always be cherished in our hearts and as we say in Jamaica, "Walk Good" Etty and may your Soul Rest in Peace.
