George touched those that he met with his kindness & consideration. For the short time that I knew him, through Birkie involvement, I found George to be tedious, tireless, structured, & always very organized. I worked with George on Birkie courses & trail cleanups. From my experiences with George it was obvious that he was a tremendous family man & will be sorely missed. What a genuinely fine person. All the best to his family. Rest peacefully George.

Margaret, Simon, Michael and Katerine, It was great to learn about George from you at the funeral. My wife Jan and I attended remotely. You spoke eloquently about your love for him and your photo selection was terrific. The last slide, after George completed the 55 with pack was magical for me 🙂 When I saw him after that race, he looked more like he had skied a very long way. I have been on the board with George for 4 years and have enjoyed every one of them. It is difficult to loose someone so dynamic and full of life at this time of year. My condolences.

Margaret, we were shocked to hear about the sudden passing of George. Dave and I have fond memories of visiting with you and George at the Hudson's. George was always lots of fun. As cross country skiers, we were very impressed and appreciative of all the volunteer work he did for the Birkebeiner and trail maintenance. We watched the beautiful service online. It was a wonderful tribute to an amazing man. We send our love and condolences.

Dear Margaret and family
It was such an honor to know George. I was the person who introduced him to the Canadian Birkebeiner Society and could never imagined some with so much passion for our activity. As an ex rugby player myself I will hoist a Hardcastle in his honor

Dear Margaret and family.
A privilege to join you with your memories of George and a life well lived. So glad that Gill and I met him at the 50 year SB graduation reunion in 2018. Great recollections of our SB days!

Robert.

Dear Margaret , Simon, Michael and Katerine,
Please accept my sincerely condolences for your loss.
It was extremely sad to hear about George.

I have had a pleasure of working closely with George throughout my two years with the Canadian Birkebeiner Society. He has been a valuable member of them team and whole-heartedly devoted to the cross-country skiing with significant contribution. He was always appreciative of new perspectives and new ways of attempting to look at the challenges, and collectively brainstorming relevant solutions.

Kind regards,

Aman Hojanepesov
