We are so sorry we were unable to attend the beautiful celebration honouring the life of Dennis. We did watch it online, and thank the Edney family for making that possible. We will always hold him dear in our hearts and be thankful he was in our corner when we needed him most.
He was an amazing man and will never be forgotten by anyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing him

I count myself lucky to have so many great memories with Dennis. He was the best kind of friend to my whole family. Most of my memories of Dennis involve having a good laugh, but he taught me some great lessons along the way. I'll always remember how kind and generous he was to Claire and I when we lived in Canada, and I'm glad she got the chance to become a friend of his also.

He lived an inspiring life, which I've told plenty of people about over the years - and I'll continue to do so. Love to Patricia, Cameron, Duncan, and Julie.

I met Dennis one early evening in February 2006 when I was hurriedly driving along a snow filled country road. Dennis was walking home on the road in the opposite direction coming back from walking his dog. I had not seen him nor his dog - as it was dark and both he and his dog were in black - and had to swerve to avoid them. He, in his Scottish brogue, made it clear to me as to how I should be driving in the future. That started many future enjoyable conversations as I was building my house on that road and he would happen to walk by with his dog.

We subsequently happened to meet at a local YMCA where we would steam and chat. We spoke often of our humble roots, and social justice, and the plight of the lost and downtrodden souls in the world and - with the most joy - of our families.

He was a deeply intellectual, and critical thinker - which I admired greatly - but most of all I admired his kindness and compassion.

He seemed to me to be this intensely shining, brave, and hardy soul who was always tempered with a uniquely uncommon kindness and civility.

I am privileged to have known him in some small way; this man who left the world a better place in whatever he touched.

Godspeed Good Sir; you will be forever missed.

Dear Patricia - I watched the live stream - the generosity of Dennis' life, your generosity in sharing his service, serve the world well in telling us what is important and what a fully lived life brings to everyone connected. The deep love and vibrant joy are so visible in all that was said and shared.
with affection, Heike

If only our world had more men and women of the caliber of Dennis Edney. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once - a man without pretension - true of character and conviction and decent to the core. A sense of humour and humility stood out to me. To all the Edney family; you are all very lucky to have known him.

Dearest Patricia and Family,
Such a beautiful tribute to Dennis' life. While I didn't know him well, from the stories about him and his life from everyone, I know that the world is a better place because of his passion for justice, love of life and doing the right thing. Thank you so much for keeping me informed of this event. I feel blessed for having attended virtually.
Keep well Patricia. Warmest regards, Wendy

I feel privileged to have know Dennis. I loved his visits to me at the restaurant I work at in Toronto, and always enjoyed our conversations. I met him 17 years ago and that same day let me sit in listening to a radio interview he had with CBC. He was funny, kind, wise, and loved his family.
I thought of him often. I’ll never forget him.

I knew Dennis via the media from his brave standing with Omar Kadar. I told myself I want to meet this brave man one day to thank and appreciate what he did. One year after that my mental ill son Abdulrahman got arrested during our family vacation to U.S due to online chatting with an FBI informant. After we came back from our vacation I called Dennis asking for help. He told me to meet him in the hotel in Toronto on June 2016. I met him with my wife and my daughter I felt as if he is part of our family. During that meeting Dennis gave us a golden advices which really helped us alot after that we met her him in person more than 30 times. Dennis was a wonderful lawyer, man , husband, father and friend. If you want to know what Dennis did for us visit our son's website https://bringabdulhome.ca/. God bless Dennis and his family

I met Dennis in London, and years later, Patricia. I spent the last decade and a bit with Dan, Dennis's twin (I disagree with Jean Louis: Dennis definitely had better hair than Dan, but his looks matched his twin brother's!). So many stories that crossed the Atlantic back and forth, and then north to Scotland... I deeply regret having known the Edneys for such a short time, but I love Daniel, and through him, his Canadian family. I will definitely be there in mind (and computer!). My love to you all, Celia.

My first job as a Legal Assistant was at Edney Hattersley and Dolphin. I learned so much at my first job in the legal field and have many great memories of Dennis playing his Beatles CDs in the office and him flying off to a soccer match on a last minute whim. I still laugh at all the tickets he received parking at the courthouse and it never phased him.

The Christmas parties at the Edney home were amazing and Patricia and Dennis were such wonderful hosts. Dennis loved to show off his Scotch collection and even let me have a sample.

There was never a dull moment with Dennis and his big personality and all the interesting clients he took on.

Sending lots of love and prayers to his family.

Dennis was my uncle, my dad's twin. Dennis was the funnier of the two, taller and, objectively, better looking ;). In many other respects, they were similar: both adventurers & globalists. Both generous and ambitious in equal measure. Both doting fathers. Our last christmas spent with Dennis, Patricia, Cam, Julie and Duncan (and friends) in Edmonton will be forever inked amongst our fondest memories. I will always appreciate Dennis giving me his warm jacket when we went skiing, to his detriment. He just wouldnt have it any other way. To my mind, that sums up my Uncle Dennis. Love from the Lafayeedneys

Dennis was a wonderful friend . He had the ability to brighten up the most difficult day . I can safely say that the times I spent with Dennis and Patricia in Canada are among my favourite memories . Dennis had such a sense of fun and enjoyed the ' craic ' ( as we say in Ireland ) .One of his greatest missions was to have bigger electric gates than the ones I had in Ireland . He regularly wrote emails to me using the alias Jason , demanding increased Spa fees for entry to his beloved steam room . There is no need for me to outline his brilliance , it is well known world wide .Dennis was dedicated to his family , his dogs and tto the law . He was one in a million . Dennis , you will never be forgotten. Sincere sympathy to Patricia , Cameron , Duncan and Julie .

I was lucky enough to know Dennis and his family for about 27 years, and during that time to consider him my best pal. Dennis was truly a Renaissance man, equally at home filing a court motion as measuring and cutting timber for his latest project. A man who moved from the Soccer field to the Supreme Court, in a journey with too many interesting diversions to list here. He was as relaxed in a London Club as at the Smokey Lake Cafe. His greatest love and pride lay in his family to whom his loyal devotion was endless. Dennis never lost his Dundonian feistiness, which he displayed most prominently in his legal battles, notably when taking on The Establishment . Truly it can be thought of Dennis," when they made him they threw the mould away. Maybe his most lasting , but not lauded quality was his ability to teach and inspire, I regularly hear his voice saying" Johnny, measure twice and cut once pal" in offering my Condolences to Patricia, Cameron,Duncan and Julie I say in Gaelic " Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam" ,( May his soul be at Gods right side" and to Dennis " I love you Pal
